Get ready to feast on the tantalizing food of India with Wyndham Grand Plaza hotel’s Indian Week buffet at Café Royale. From May 18 – 25, Chef Maddy Chamoli, originally from New Dehli, will tempt your taste buds with richly spiced rice pulau, meat and vegetable curries and hand-made parathas.
For the occasion, Café Royale was adorned with an abundance of fresh flowers, soft lighting and the lilting tunes of Indian melodies.
The Green Peas Pulau Choley with long slender basmati rice, fragrant spices and fried shallots, makes a sumptuous base to soak up the curries, starting with a tangy chickpea curry that was accented with some fiery red chilies.
The other curries were mild and would pose no problems for the heat adverse, such as the familiar tomato based Chicken Curry and the meaty Lamb Vindaloo.
Vegetarian options include Cumin Potatoes – scented with cumin seeds and turmeric and Paneer Tikka – a firm Indian cheese coated in spices and fried.
No Indian food extravaganza would be complete without some lassi yogurt drinks and Chef Maddy presents a special Spiced Lassi that has a salty, savoury taste.
The highlight of Indian Week buffet is certainly to see the Vegetable Paratha being made. Chef Maddy gave us a demonstration, tossing the dough in the air, stretching it thin and folding it into flaky layers.
Along with Chef Maddy’s Indian creations, guests have access to the full buffet at Café Royale for 328RMB +15% service charge. The buffet runs nightly from 5:30pm – 9pm.
