Domino’s first branch in Hangzhou opened on March 21 on Wensan road between Wantang road and Xueyuan road. They are mounting a strong challenge for the hearts and stomachs of customers here and the menu is highly geared to what the typical customer thinks American pizza should be. We’re talking some crazy and somewhat frightening combinations like fish sticks, corn, French lardons and uncooked cherry tomatoes on the Fish Deluxe Pizza (69RMB for 9”, 95RMB for 12”). They do also have more traditional pizzas like Hawaiian (39RMB for 9”, 65RMB for 12”), Super Deluxe (59RMB and 9”, 85RMB for 12”) and Meat Lover (69RMB for 9”, 95RMB for 12”). To their credit, Domino’s has really succeeding in charming customers into their store and it was packed when we visited at lunchtime. There’s also pasta, baked rice and assorted snacks on the menu.
Throughout its history, Domino’s has promised delivery of pizzas within 30 minutes or the customer gets a refund or coupons. The same goes here in Hangzhou and they deliver within a 3km radius of the restaurant in 30 minutes or the customer receives a coupon for a free 9” pizza.
