If you're reading this right now, you're probably in the market for a heart-thumping, blood-pumping, balls-to-the-wall workout. And, friend, we've got you covered. We're all about helping you get sweaty in pursuit of your goals, whether that means getting stronger, hitting a new PR, or losing weight. But let's be real for a second here: The tricky thing about weight-loss workouts is that they're kinda, sorta... a myth. Don't get me wrong—if you're trying to lose weight, a solid exercise regimen should be part of your plan. It just can't be the only part.
Here's the thing: Working out isn't enough on its own to make weight loss happen. There's so much else that goes into weight loss and body fat loss; in fact, exercise isn't even technically necessary in many cases. If you want to lose weight—and it's totally cool if you do and totally cool if you don't—adopting healthy eating habits has got to be step numero uno. To get technical, you need to create a calorie deficit, which means using more calories in a day than you consume—and the consumption part plays a much bigger role in that than burning calories in the gym, or while carrying your groceries home, or any of the other myriad ways you put your muscles to work each day. Other lifestyle habits, like sleep and stress management, and health conditions (think thyroid issues, to name just one of many) also affect your weight. Point is, weight loss is a complicated and extremely personal journey that doesn't look or work the exact same way from one person to the next.
Anyway, we are going to introduce a few quite efficient workout, if you have nothing planned for your National holiday, then why not use this time to start a new habit?
For a workout that's going to keep your metabolism elevated, turn to boot camp, as these classes combine two of the most effective styles of training: interval and resistance. You'll perform exercises, some more cardio-focused and others strength-focused, full-out for short bursts of time, coupled with short periods of rest. But if it's your first time going to a boot camp class, speak up. A good instructor will help you determine when you need to crank up the weight or intensity (tip: if you can cruise through 10 reps without any trouble, it's too easy), keep your form on par, and can always provide a modification for any move that might be too tough or irritates an injury.
You can do it in these places:

At its essence, boxing is really another form of interval training. But it also makes you feel freaking badass. Here's the trick to remember: It's a common mistake for beginners to punch using only their arm strength, but the majority of your power is going to come from your core and you'll use muscles that are typically ignored in other workouts (hey there, obliques).
It's best to log this type of workout in a class, it's crucial for beginners to learn proper form from an instructor who can help keep your intensity level high. But if you want to brush up on your skills at home, try this beginner-friendly video from Milan Costich, or P90X home MMA workout.

There's a reason CrossFit has become such a booming part of the workout industry—it works, so long as you don't overdo it. Workouts are varied—you may be doing anything from kettlebell swings to rope climbs and box jumps to front squats—and the routines are designed to be short and intense. The most important thing to find when looking for the box (CrossFit slang for "gym") that fits you best: a well-informed coach who can explain and modify the moves, and make sure that you don't push yourself to the point of injury. Here are a few things to keep in mind before every WOD.

The bonus burn: To get maximum torching power, row in super-fast one-minute intervals (150 watts), and take 30- to 60-second active rest periods by alternating between squats, pushups, and planks. (This high-intensity rowing workout will get your heart racing.)

If you can't stand the thought of running, or just want to work out without a ton of pounding on your joints, do a few laps in the pool. It's a low-impact exercise that will work all of your major muscle groups. As with most workouts, it helps to go in with a plan. Try this one: Tread water for as long as possible by standing upright in the deep end and using your arms and legs to stay afloat. Then rest for two minutes. Now swim 10 sets of 100 meters (that's back-and-forth lap in an Olympic-sized pool), resting for one minute in between sets. By the time you climb out of the pool, your muscles will be pleasantly worn out.

If you have a tight budget to spend on the equipment or membership, don’t use that as an excuse, there are many other ways to do your workout. Here are some really simple and easy ones, everyone can do.
All you need is a pair of sneakers before you head out the door. But if weight loss is the name of your game, the lackadaisical head-out-for-a-light-jog style of running isn't the way to go. Instead, find a hill you can sprint up, or crank the incline on that treadmill. "Running up hills forces you to work your glutes and legs—two of your body's biggest muscle groups—even more, which requires smaller muscle recruitment and more energy expenditure. As noted earlier, the more energy you're using, the brighter that calorie-burning fire burns. But proper form here is key. Lean into the hill, and drive your knees as high as you can, striking the ball of each foot down directly under your body, keep your hands open and arms bent at 90 degrees, and drive your arms straight forward up to face level, then backward to the top of your back pocket. And try not to let your arms cross over your body—that'll just waste the precious energy your muscles need. If you're training indoors, here are a few fat-burning treadmill routines to get you started.
Try it: You can do these 4 fat-burning workouts on a treadmill. Or you can take them outside if you'd like—for incline work, just fine a good hill.
If your biggest excuse for skipping a workout is being crunched for time, Tabata is your dream come true. It's designed to be four minutes of high-intensity interval training that consists of 20 seconds of all-out effort, followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated eight times. And you can use this protocol with any number of different exercises. You'll spike your metabolism and heart rate in four minutes, but it is to be warned against making this time frame a habit if you're trying to lose weight. Your body will quickly adapt to that interval, and you'll need to increase the volume or intensity to continue getting a benefit from it. To do that, you have to extend your session to 20 minutes and following the same format. Simply pick four exercises—think jump rope, squats, mountain climbers, and squat jumps—then do each for 20 seconds as hard and fast as you can (while maintaining proper form, of course), then recovering for 10 seconds and 10 seconds only. Repeat for eight rounds on that one move (so, four minutes of work) before resting for one minute and moving on to the next exercise.
It's time to kick it back to the good ole' days of P.E. class, when you first learned how to swing a jump rope. This tool is cheap, portable (it'll fit in the tiny parts of your suitcase!), and can be used just about anywhere. After just a few minutes you will feel your heart rate racing!
Here's a speedy routine to try:
1. Warm up with a light 3-minute skip with the rope
2. Do 100 traditional jumps (both feet leave the floor at the same time, and no extra hops in between)
3. Once you finish, immediately do 100 jump rope sprints (think regular jumping rope but at an even quicker pace)
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, but follow this format: 50/50, 21/21, 15/15, 9/9
5. If you want more, work your way back up the ladder until you reach 100/100 again Oh, and whatever you do, don't do it barefoot. Few things compare to the pain of missing a skip and smacking the tip of your toe with a jump rope. Noted. You can do this entire sequence mock-style, though, if you don't have a rope handy.
Your skin is the largest organ that you have in your body and it is one that has multiple uses. It not only covers and protects everything inside your body, but it also helps your body stay at just the right temperature and allows you to have the sense of touch. Your skin, however, is often the one organ that we do not look after-especially during this time of year.
The winter and spring are particularly vulnerable seasons for your skin. The winter in particular can play a huge role in the way your skin reacts. This is especially the case in the northern parts of China where the weather is harsh, cold, dry, and dusty. People with sensitive or dry skin are particularly prone to problems during the winter season.
A common condition during the winter season and one that we treat often is dry, itchy skin. If you are suffering from this condition it is often easily treated, but remember to see your dermatologist or doctor straight away to be properly diagnosed.
By following the tips below, you will be able to beat dry itchy skin before it even starts this winter.
Tips to help you get your skin through the winter season
Do not take more than one shower/bath a day
Over washing removes the natural lubricant that skin produces and makes skin dry and flaky.
Do not shower/bathe for more than 10 minutes
The longer you stay in the water, the drier your skin will get.
Do not shower/bathe in hot water
Heat increases the rate that water evaporates from your skin leaving it dry. Luke warm water is a better choice.
Avoid saunas and steam baths
Like hot showers, they increase the rate that water evaporates from your skin leaving it dry.
Use a mild formula soap or shower gel and don't exfoliate
Apply moisturizing cream right after you shower/bathe while your skin is still damp
Moisturizers lock water into your skin but do not help add water so the best time to apply them is straight after your body has been in contact with water. For very dry weather, a thin moisturizer that is applied after a shower is not enough; in this circumstance, some thicker and greasier creams will do a better job.
Avoid wearing nylon or woolen clothing because these materials can irritate your skin
Loose fitting undergarments made out of 100% cotton are best when your skin is dry.
Air-conditioners, over-heated rooms, and windy weather all make the environment dry, which in turn can make your skin dry
To combat this, put some plants, fish-tanks, or humidifiers in your office and home.
Apply some extra protection if you have to go out on a windy day
The sun is not as hot or bright in winter
however, if you are outdoors for long periods of time, your skin can still get sunburned, particularly in the snow
Be sure to apply sunscreen in these cases.
Avoid spicy food as it can make your skin dry and itchy
Drink lots of water and limit your intake of alcohol

Don’t have motivation to go workout? Tired of running alone? Bored of lifting all those weights in the gym? And got too many injuries from CrossFit? Here comes boxing to shake up your work-out routine!
Benefits of Boxing
Boxing is a truly fantastic sport and it isn’t just for those giant beasts of men that you see on television. Boxing is a sport that everybody can participate in and that makes a huge difference. Of course, you don’t actually have to step in the ring in the form of competitive boxing. We realize that not everybody wants to fight other people for fun, not to mention that taking a few shots to the noggin can definitely hurt your brain, but you can always box for fun and you can definitely engage in all of the training that comes with it.
There's a reason why boxing is the workout of choice for so many celebs and models. Not only is fighting a strength and cardio workout in one, it's the best way to get in tune with your inner badass.
The boxing workout is great for fat loss. Almost every boxing exercise will make you sweat. No matter if you're doing heavy bag work, mitt work, jumping rope, sparring, push-ups or even shadowboxing, you're going to burn calories. You can lose 3-4 pounds in a single workout if it's intense enough. The main physical benefit beginner boxers will see is cardiovascular since boxing improves your resting heart rate and muscular endurance. That lowered resting heart rate and increased stamina can give you an edge in your other workouts.
With a potential burn rate of 13 calories a minute, boxing goes head-to-head with other types of cardio like running and cycling. Plan to punch away anywhere from 200 to 400 calories (for a 140-pound individual) per half hour. Thirty minutes of boxing in a ring torches 400 calories; 30 minutes of punching a bag vaporizes 200 calories.
And now we’re getting to the point, Do You Rumble?
What Is Rumble Boxing?
Rumble is HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), strength training, metabolic conditioning (METCON), and uppercut throwing cardio all combined in one clean class.
Rumble was founded by entrepreneur Andy Stenzler, who co-founded Cosi and Kidville; Eugene Remm, a nightclub guru, restaurateur and Rumble’s chief brand officer; Noah Neiman, former Barry’s Bootcamp master trainer and a Bravo “Work Out New York” star; and Anthony DiMarco, an 11-time Ironman competitor and former managing director at Google. It’s been said that Rumble is the ‘next big thing’ and that they are uniquely positioned to help shepherd and expedite its growth.
Rumble’s workouts are built around a 45-minute full-body strength-training and conditioning class that features teardrop-shaped, water-filled punching bags (designed not to hurt wrists or other joints), and moves to floor workouts with weights before going back to the punching bags — with inspiring hip-hop and house music mixed with “classics” from Biggie Smalls to the Fugees.
We Tried It: The Rumble Boxing Workout Kendall Jenner, David Beckham and Selena Gomez Love
This class is a challenge from start to finish! We were dripping in sweat and our muscles were on fire, but the beauty of it is that you can go at your own pace. And NO prior boxing experience needed!
Once you check in and get your glossy custom white gloves and wraps, you head inside the dimly lit room to warm up and start throwing punches. Coach Shield, who studied in US and speaks fluent English, will guide you through every step.
We love the darkness for two reasons: 1. You get in there and get in the zone. No one cares about what the person next to them is doing, even if it’s Selena Gomez… it’s all about putting in the work without having to think about what you look like. 2. The lighting system is timed perfectly with the music so you feel like you’re dancing at LIV Miami. When that red light hits you, it’s hard not to turn it up.
And then, of course, there’s the reputation of Rumble Boxing itself. It’s known for attracting celebrities (Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, David Beckham, and — based on Rumble’s Instagram — an absurd number of models) in New York and Los Angeles. Now, we’re getting a taste of that celebrity-endorsed life with our own Rumble Boxing Hardcore Man Boxing studio in Hangzhou.
We swung by for a class on opening day to see if it would live up to the hype, and it didn’t disappoint. Hardcore Man Boxing is located on the 3rd floor of Gemini Mansion in Binjiang. Once you arrive, you’ll see the night club styled studio in black and red.
The studio itself is outfitted with intense sound systems, screens, and lighting (we’re talking black lights, which add some serious dramatic effects) that make the workout experience fully immersive. The water-filled punching bags are from AQUABAG, it costs 3,000RMB each, and there are 37 of them.
There is also a dedicated heart rate meter to record the calories that you’ve burned. The calories burned per lesson will be uploaded directly to the big screen so you can see how much fat you’ve lost in one class.
The locker rooms — slick, pristine white spaces — have all the amenities you’ll need to freshen up after class, including shower gel, shampoo, cotton pads, and even Dyson hairdryers.
After the class, you can enjoy a healthy meal at the reception that has less than 300 calories and costs 30RMB.
We were promised a high-end boutique studio, and that’s exactly what we got.
As for the workout itself, it’s honestly the most beginner-friendly of all the new boxing workouts. The class is 45 mins and the courses are divided into different training intensities (low, medium, and high), from warming up, to weights, to boxing training. The whole studio is filled with hanging aqua bags. Rumble’s teardrop-shaped, water-filled punching bags AQUABAG takes the place of traditional heavy bags.
Overall, the class is a high-energy, upbeat, music-fueled, sweaty good time. (Oh, and you will be sore. Three days later and our abs are still feeling it.)
After experiencing Rumble myself, now I know why the members and trainers look as great as they do. It was an amazing workout with entertaining trainers and an all around awesome time. Rumble: Celebrity tested, MORE Hangzhou Approved.
Now MORE Hangzhou has the opportunity to invite you all to come to have a drop-in at 3pm on Sunday, Nov. 17th for only 68RMB (cost 298RMB on sale), it’s definitely on the higher end of the range for a workout class, but hey, it’s boutique fitness — we never said it would be cheap. Ready to punch and kick?
Pre-sale price: 68RMB
(the registration closes at 5pm on Friday, Nov.15th)
