Taiziwan Park, a.k.a. Prince Bay Park, is located on the part of Nanshan Road which loops around to the southwest side of West Lake. It is a beautiful oasis amongst the busy walkways around the lake and is a particular hot spot for wedding photos and the annual tulip exhibition. It’s said that this used to be the site of Cuanyuan Garden (攒园), the garden for temporarily keeping the coffins of two princes in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), hence the name. When spring hits, this park becomes one of the best spots for picnicking or just hanging out. Wander around the park, and you’ll see flowers as well as Japanese apple and cherry trees in full bloom everywhere.
