Add New Venue

The original Warehouse locatedon East Huancheng road has now moved to the first floor of the Merchant Marco Hotel on Pinghai road. There’s plenty of comfortable leather seatingthat can easily accommodate fifty people in a cheerful and inviting wood accented environment.

The first thing that catches your eye when you enter this Warehouse is the long bar table to the left showcasing a large selection of European beers. Indeed, Warehouse is rebranding itself to be predominantly a bar for beer lovers. The owner Jason is himself a beer connoisseur, a veritable fountain of knowledge on the subject. He sat with us and exuberantly recounted stories about the beer making process, the meaning of Trappist beer designation and the intricacies of hops and barley.

The Premium Beer Sampler (300RMB) is a great way to get a feel for fine European beers. The set includes five bottles that should be sampled from light tasting to strong– Vedett Extra White(a floral and citrusy wheat beer), Duvel (a bubbly golden ale that had a frothy snow white foamand a hoppy aftertaste), ChimayBrune(a red coloured ale with robust notes of fruit, spice and malt), Maredsous (a caramel coloured ale with a nutty taste) and Gulden Draak (a dark beer with 10.5% alcohol). We were served the beer in simple glasses that night for ease, but rest assured that Warehouse does have proper dedicated glasses for each beer to best bring out their character.

We followed up with the Tiger Cocktail Sampler (95RMB), a fun selection of flavoured Tiger beer including Jaegermeister, peach, mint, apple and mango flavour. Since Tiger beer is a neutral, light tasting beer, it was a good base for these refreshing cocktails.

Warehouse will be revamping their food menu to offer a broader selection of dishes. We had an absolutely lovely Warehouse Pasta (50RMB) with small strips of beef tenderloin and a fragrant butter and cream sauce. The New Zealand Lamb Chops (95RMB) were marinated in red wine, cooked simply with salt and pepper and had a delicious melt in the mouth quality.

Jason has successfully accomplished a transformation ofWarehouse into a bar for beer lovers with a menu of well-made, simple but tastypastas, pizzas and meat entrees. Well done!Warehouse also has a branch in Xiaoshanwith the same great selection of beers for those of you living out there.
